I was impressed with how easy it was to apply. I also just find the program really cool and appreciate as a student that people are trying to help other students. Great scholarship program!

Who can enter?

Legal residents of the United States who reside in the state of Iowa and who are either: an Iowa high school student, an undergraduate college student, or a parent or guardian, or another adult who holds a College Savings Iowa account to benefit, an Iowa high school student or an undergraduate college student.

How do I enter?

Simply visit the registration page to enter your information and, if you are a student, your parent’s or guardian’s information. You must accept and agree to be bound by the Official Rules for the scholarship.

What else do I need to do?

Although you do not need to do anything additional, and no purchase is necessary, continue to the informational pages after registration and answer the three multiple-choice questions about the tips you see. These pages provide valuable information to assist you with the postsecondary education journey.

Is there a way to go back and see the informational pages at a later time?

No; the informational pages are only available after registration. You do not need to complete the questions on these pages for your entry to the scholarship to be considered valid.

Is there a deadline to enter?

There are two registration periods each academic year, one in the fall and one in the spring. You may enter both registration periods each year. To be entered into a drawing, you must register before the end of the current registration period.

Do I need to have an existing College Savings Iowa account to enter?

No; you do not need to have an existing College Savings Iowa account to enter. However, if you are selected as a potential winner and do not already have a College Savings Iowa account for the eligible student named in the registration information, you will need to open an account and provide the account information to us within 30 days after being notified that you are a potential winner. Note: Only people 18 or older may open a College Savings Iowa account; underage students will need to work with an adult with a valid Social Security number or other taxpayer ID number to open a new account.

If we do not have the necessary account information with 30 days, you will be disqualified and you will forfeit the award.

How many times can I enter?

Each student may enter on their own behalf once. One parent, guardian or other adult may also enter the student once during each registration period for a total of two entries per student beneficiary. Additional entries to benefit the same student will not be considered.

Can multiple parents or guardian enter for the same student?

No; an eligible student can only be entered into the scholarship drawing once per registration period by a parent, guardian or other adult who holds a College Savings Iowa account to benefit that student. The student may also enter themselves once during the same registration period.

How are winners chosen?

Forty-five entries will be randomly drawn to each receive a $1,000 deposit into a College Savings Iowa account.

If my entry is drawn as a winner, what do I need to do to receive the award?

To receive an award, the potential winner must meet all eligibility requirements; have, or open with 30 days, a College Savings Iowa account in the name of the eligible student named in the registration information; and provide, via electronic acceptance form(s) all information necessary for us to deposit the award into the College Savings Iowa account.

How will I be notified if I win?

If your entry is chosen in a drawing, you will be notified via the email address and/or phone number you provided in your registration information. If we are unable to reach you by these means and you miss any deadlines, you will forfeit the award.

What if a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible?

If a potential winner is disqualified before awards are disbursed, the award will be granted to an alternate, eligible winner. If a potential winner fails to return the necessary College Savings Iowa account information to us within 30 days of notification, the award will be forfeit and not be re-awarded to any other participant.

Can an award be split up and divided among multiple College Savings Iowa accounts or deposited into an account for another eligible student?

No; the award can only be deposited into a College Savings Iowa account that is in the name of the eligible student listed on the registration information for the selected entry.
