Who can enter?
Legal residents of the United States who reside in the state of Iowa, and who are parents or legal guardians of an Iowa high school student in grade 9, 10, 11 or 12 during the 2016-2017 school year, are eligible to enter.
What do I have to do to enter?
Giveaway participants are required to complete the cosigner version of Iowa Student Loan's Student Loan Game PlanSM, an interactive program designed to increase understanding of college financing and help reduce debt for higher education expenses. Participants are also required to provide contact and verification information, and must accept and agree to be bound by the Official Rules of the giveaway.
What are the important dates?
The registration period opens on Sept. 12, 2016, and will close at 11:59:59 p.m. (Central time) Oct. 30, 2016. Applicants must complete the cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan and the one-time registration process before the close of the registration period. Potential Winners will be notified in November 2016, and Winners will be publicly announced soon after.
Do I have to complete the cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan and the one-time registration at the same time, or can I do one of them now and the other later?
Both the cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan and the one-time registration must be completed at the same time. The cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan must be completed first, and then the one-time registration can be completed. The one-time registration cannot be started until after the cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan has been completed.
If I have already completed the cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan before the start date of the giveaway registration period, do I have to complete it again?
Yes. Both the one-time registration and the completion of the cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan must take place during the registration period.
How long does it take to complete the cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan and one-time registration?
The exact amount of time necessary to complete the cosigner version of Student Loan Game Plan and one-time registration will vary from person to person, depending upon how quickly they complete each page. We suggest you allow at least 10 to 20 minutes to complete the process.
How will winners be chosen?
Thirty potential winners will be chosen at random by an independent third-party organization after the registration period ends.
If I am selected as a winner, what do I have to do to receive the Award?
To be declared a winner and receive an Award, the potential winner must (1) meet all eligibility requirements, (2) have performed all participation requirements, (3) have, or within sixty (60) days open, a College Savings Iowa account in the name of the eligible student who was named in the registration information, and (4) provide Iowa Student Loan with all information that is necessary for Iowa Student Loan to be able to deposit the Award into the appropriate College Savings Iowa account.
What if a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible?
If a potential winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible they will forfeit the award and that award will not be re-awarded to any other participant.
What do winners receive?
Each eligible winner will receive a deposit of $1,500 to a College Savings Iowa account for the eligible student whose name was provided during registration for the Giveaway.
Do I need to have an existing College Savings Iowa account to enter?
No, you do not need to have an existing account to enter. However, if you win and do not already have a College Savings Iowa account for the eligible student who was named in your registration information, in order to receive the award you will need to open one for the eligible student. If you do not open an account for the eligible student, you will forfeit the award.
You will have 60 days after being notified that you are a potential winner to open a College Savings Iowa account for the eligible student, and provide the necessary information about that account to Iowa Student Loan. After 60 days, if an account has not been opened for the eligible student, or Iowa Student Loan has not been provided the necessary information about the account, you will be disqualified and you will forfeit the award.
If I have more than one eligible student, can I enter more than once?
Yes, you can enter one time for each eligible student for whom you are either a parent or legal guardian.
Can multiple parents/guardians enter for the same student?
No, an eligible student can only be entered into the giveaway one time. Duplicate entries will be ineligible and not used in the final drawing.
