School Certification Tips

Certification Dates

Private student loans offered by Iowa Student Loan or serviced by Aspire Servicing Center may be certified up to six months prior to the loan period begin date or 120 days after the loan period end date.

In the case where a student withdraws before the end of the term, the application must be certified by the school on or prior to the last date of attendance and cannot be certified for more than the student's COA less other aid.

Schools must process an application within 180 days from the day a school certification request is received or the application will be denied and the student will be required to complete a new application.

Allowable Changes

As you certify private loans, please keep in mind that you can change the academic year if the student has applied for funds for the wrong year.
