Community Outreach

By working with organizations that have established trust and connections among the underserved families in our community, we leverage our student loan and college financing expertise to help those who need it most.

ICAN

A nonprofit organization with a long history of working with ISL to provide education and resources to Iowa’s students and families, ICAN ensures that Iowans make informed decisions about education and training after high school. ICAN’s Student Success Centers provide one-on-one in-person advising at no cost, thanks in part to funding from ISL Education Lending.

By Degrees Foundation Des Moines

We team up with this organization each year to bring college planning and financial literacy information to students attending Findley Elementary, Harding Middle School and North High School. The By Degrees program follows students from kindergarten through high school graduation to increase high school graduation and readiness for postsecondary education. In addition to an annual financial contribution, ISL plans and hosts an annual family fun night to bring important financial literacy and college planning information to families through games and activities while earning a Milestone. Milestone opportunities result in college saving plan deposits for eligible students.

UI Reach

Our annual scholarship donation to the University of Iowa Realizing Educational and Career Hopes Program helps two Iowa students who otherwise would not have the financial resources benefit from this two-year transitional certificate program for students with multiple intellectual, cognitive and learning disabilities. UI Reach aims to provide students with social and life skills, including money management and financial planning.

Junior Achievement

ISL provides monetary support to assist with expenses associated with Junior Achievement of Central Iowa’s Finance Park, a financial literacy laboratory to inspire and prepare youth to achieve.

Al Exito

This program focuses on college prep, career development, civic engagement, family support and celebration of culture amount Iowa Latino/a youth and their families. We contribute to the Al Exito Mary Campos Scholarship and present at Al Exito University, a summer camp for Latino/a students in ninth through 12th grades.

ISU 4U Promise

The ISU 4U Promise Community Alliance, of which we are a member, helps community organizations, agencies and businesses maintain a pathway for high-need youths attending two Des Moines elementary schools to attend Iowa State University. In addition, ISL provides an activity station at ISU 4U Promise’s college night that draws more than 1,200 attendees.

Employee Initiatives

We provide our employees paid time off to volunteer within their communities. Employees may choose to give back by volunteering at a school activity or 501(c)(3) charitable organization during workday hours.
